The coolest named Amazon build revolves on two skills: Lightning Fury and Jab. Thunderfury, aka Lightjab Amazon, can quickly defeat enemies 1v1 or in a group. Like the other item dependent Amazon build, the Angelzon, Thunderfury is a little weak early on. However,
players are rewarded for their patience later, once they are fully kitted.
Items that facilitate a Light jab’s play style aren’t found until later game difficulties, so don’t expect Thunderfury’s game to get easier until that time. In the meantime focus on increasing her attack speed and Dexterity to overcome early challengers. The lightjab build might take some time to realize her maximum damage potential, but the results are undeniably strong.
Due to the challenges in leveling up Thunderfury, this build is best left to experienced players.
Lightjab Build Skills
Lightning damage synergy is a must when leveling Thunderfury’s skills. Obviously, the skills in the name, Jab and Lightning Fury are maxed first. The synergy is provided by the interaction of almost every skill in the “Spear and Javelin” tree.
Power, Charged, and Lightning Strike all add around 10% more damage per level. Lightning Bold adds about 3%, making it the last priority, unless it’s necessary to your play style.
Valkyrie is maxed by most Thunderfury, if not all Amazon players. Valkyrie provides the best defense and survivability skill, point for point, as available to the Amazon.
These points are normally found by shorting your Thunderfury’s investment in Jab. Remember you need at least 10 points in Jab.
Crit is normally maxed out, however diminishing returns per point at high levels deserves mentioning. Penetrate is largely ignored, since Thunderfury has a high Attack Rating in general.
Passive avoidance skills (Avoid, Dodge, and Evade) can be given a maximum of 5 points each. Other passive skills only get one point to unlock the needed subsequent skills.
Thunderfury Attribute Priorities
No different from other Amazon builds, invest in Strength with as many points that your desired gear requires, no more no less.
It is important to note that Dexterity is the primary attribute for the Thunderfury Amazon. Tanky variants will place points in Dexterity until they reach their maximum block chance. DPS variants max Dexterity because it directly affects an Amazon’s Attack Rating.
Additionally, Vitality can always use extra points. It’s not bad to increase your HP if you’re left with little other options. Most players will find their survivability in items and skills, but a few enjoy the extra tankiness.
On the other hand, Energy should be kept at base levels. You don’t need any points here; if you have Mana issues bridge the gap with items.
Mercenary
The best minion for 90% of Amazon builds and arguably most classes, is the Act 2 Desert Mercenary. Your Mercenary is best when armed with the “Holy Freeze” or “Might” auras.
“Holy Freeze” is great for CC, and “Might” will provide your Thunderfury, Mercenary, and Valkyrie with a nice damage boost.
